The "king of glands" is the hypothalmus (located in the brain) which releases hormones that stimulate or inhibit the pituitary glands (anterior and posterior) to secrete hormones which in turn directly or indirectly control, growth, reproduction, fluid, electrolyte balance, insulin production, etc.
